Merry Christmas & Farewell

We thought it was time to farewell our Manado blog adventure with one final post.

Since returning to Australia, we have been busy catching up with friends and family – we’ve even managed to meet up with some fellow Manado expats who are now practically our neighbours once again!

We’ve settled back into our family house and apart from a few bumps and scratches from the tenants, it is so nice to be home. I (Julie) am already busying myself with mini home renovation projects, much to Jason’s displeasure however he did promise me funding for when we return to do so – easy to forget such a promise after 12 months <grin>.

Christmas celebrations started for us a few days ago with a BBQ dinner and now we have 5 lunches straight over the festive season to attend. There will be so much wine flowing after 12 months of sparse intake (due to the price in Indonesia). Tip: A good time to buy shares in Dan Murphy’s.

We would like to thank all our followers for their comments recently, which saw us win Gold in the Expat Blog Awards! But, most of all thank you for sharing our journey.

It is really too early to say where we will go next because the thought of another packing carton sends shivers down my spine <Julie>. We are however hopeful that there will be another Expat blog on the horizon in the future.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you all.

Best Wishes,

The Nitz Family xo

  1. Merry Christmas! It’s been lovely reading your adventures!

I found your blog whilst on holiday in Manado on my way to see the 2016 eclipse at Tidore (I was actually searching for “wine Manado”). Sadly, I was no closer to finding a wine shop, but your blog raised a few smiles of recognition from me, and was an enjoyable and informative read. Well done!
I hope you’re all continuing to enjoy life to the full.
